„Here, dignity is carried in silence,
shaped by history, sharpened by thought, and worn without display.“

At last it is understood,
through institutions shaped by time,
that community
emerges within enduring circles of learning,
tempered by debate,
governed by continuity and rule,
forming individuals through discipline,
without spectacle or excess,
dignity.
Dignity
People recognise one another
by the dignity they grant in return.
It shows
in knowing the line,
and choosing not to cross it.
Across years and distances,
it endures,
without calling attention to itself.
And still, each person knows
the quiet, unsettling thought
of not being enough.
When parting draws near,
it becomes clear
how much dignity truly weighs —
more than what was owned,
more than what was held.
It reaches further
than a single lifetime.
Dignity deepens
through a life lived,
through what a person has carried —
unless they were broken.
Through hardship,
through being diminished,
until memory itself begins to fade
of who one once was.
Love exists everywhere.
Only when it is allowed to lead
does suffering loosen its hold.
Then dignity
can be seen again —
not declared,
but quietly present.
